Running boat with muffs

"As always, thanks for the help from the regulars (and others)!

My neighbor the other day started his boat without water cooling "muffs" in his drieway (no, really it was him and not me!).

It felt like a very long time, but was probably about 30 seconds or so. Would this create a problem, and is it worth saying something to him.

His boat is about a 04-06 Bayliner 4.3L with alpha 1, (gen II?).

Jason trying to start it without muffs is to long. yes i would be neiborly and gently ask him what the h_ _l he was thinking

no water for a water cooled engine is not good.
it starts at the impeller and goes downhill from there.
 
Bayliners are what they call &

Bayliners are what they call "practice boats" That's why I would never buy another one unless brand new.
