Especially considering this is my first post.... Let the flaming begin. I understand what I propose is not a good idea.
1999 Mercruiser 305 220hp inboard with less than 500 hours. Powering a heavy Tollycraft 26. Plan or hope is to use the boat throught the summer, gather parts for diesel swap then a major swap this fall and winter.
The 5 liter broke a valve spring on #1 intake, this promptly and mildly bent the valve. Engine runs ok considering. I replaced the spring and pushrod in hopes I dodged a bullet. No luck, still no compression on #1.
What if I pulled the pushrod back out of #1 so the valve no longer moves and further damages the head. Then I run it for the season, when I say run it I mean trawler speeds no trying to plane or any on that.
Is this crazy? Will it ruin the engine beyond reasonable repair? I do have a "get home kicker" in case of utter failure.
Thank YOU!!!
