Today I submerged the lower unit in a barrel of water today, water level reached a few inches above the water intake. Tried starting it. It started and would quit, same as before. After a bit it wouldn’t even start. I just gave it a few pulls, hours later (no starting) with cardboard under the lower unit, since I saw fuel of oil on the surface of the water after the last attempt. Oil dripped onto the cardboard, with a whisp of smoke coming out from where the prop is mounted. Does that mean that the engine is ruined? If so I’m just going to replace it.
