Old RPM gauge would not work.

Old RPM gauge would not work. I replaced it with a new gauge and I do get the light but still no reading. Help.

Are the switches on the back set correctly? Ground the sender wire on neg. side of the coil w/ign. on but not running; the gauge should peg to the max.
