I just put a new prop on my 1986 johnson 110 hp. All the lower unit oil started leaking out. What could i have done? It didnt leak before. Oil was clean as new. Help.i am new in the boat hobby but i am a retired auto mechanic with 30 yrs mechanical experience and this has me puzzled. Thanks.

My guess would be that something is rubbing on the prop shaft seal and destroyed it. But surely somebody with your experience should be able to take a look and figure it out. Let us know what you find.

check this sites parts break downs. did you leave out out the thrust bushing?
