So im buzy rebuilding my engine aka Frankinrude;) and I have a problem installing the new rod i bought.
Every time i am closing the screws of the rod, the hole is not perfectly round and the edges of the hole make the bearing run rough.

How in gods name am i supposed to install the thing!? Its a new rod and a new bearing.

Please help me guys i finally want to see the thing run!!:D

Thanks

Either the connecting rod is perfect or it is no good. Contact the seller to obtain a new one.

But it is perfectly round and smooth the only thing is when i close the screws, like really hard, the upper clam seems to push it self in a direction.
Isnt there a speacial tool to install rods?

There is a special tool to line up the caps , very pricey indeed.--------------------Best run to a dealer who can do this critical job for you.

That is quite strange. Unlike the much later models, those rods/caps should actually snap together by feel as you set the cap against the rod. I have never had to use a special alignment tool for those older rods.

I assume that you are aware that the caps are mates to the rods... that is one cannot take a cap from one rod and use it on another.

Yes i know that, and that new rod even looks completly different than the two old ones so that is no problem.
And the cap fits perfectly on the rod when the screws are not tight.
But when i tighten them the one side of the cap pushes it self to the side, and not straight down as it is supposed to.
