So i got my boat out on Sunday. Ran great. Decided to check the plugs on it and realised that the top piston hardly has any carbon on it but the bottom piston has more carbon on it and oil on the plug. Any thoughts? Good?Bad? Thanks guys

it could mean you have a leaky head gasket.
best and cheapest way to have a better check is to buy a cheap borescope off the net ( they are extremely cheap on e bay )
get one for the android phone or I phone whatever phone you have.very simple to us and they even have 6 little led lights on them.
this will allow you to look right into the piston chamber and see if its extremely clean. . .if it is then it is probably a head gasket leaking.

do not use the motor until you investigate, because if water is passing the rings it will destroy the crankshaft and bearings along with the rings etc.
a simple head gasket is no big deal to change. do make sure the head is not warped by placing on perfectly level surface after cleaning old gasket away..

I was just thinking and I replaced the thermostat a month ago and didn't torque the two top head bolts. Could that be the problem?
