Riser Gasket permatex

Maybe a dumb question but...

Maybe a dumb question but...
I am replacing the risers on my 89 5.7l mercruiser. Should I be using something like permatex on the gasket between the manifold and the riser? of leave it clean?

"Mercruiser has a product called PerfectSeal. It is the non hardening brush in a can Permatex liquid. I would use it along with Merc gaskets. The Merc gaskets have a coating on them that I like. Brush your bolts with it as well, it will fight any corrosion that tries to build up."
