Hello, I have a 2005 Trophy 1903CC with a 125 Mercury. There was a battery switch already on board. After running the new cabled from the grounding block and the switch to the 2nd battery, I hooked the first battery back up. Unfortunately it was getting dark under the cover, and I was rushing to get done and reversed the cables. Nothing really happened until I turned the dial on the battery switch to battery 1. That's when the battery started smoking/sparking as well as the switch smoking. The positive cable popped off the battery I guess from getting so hot the connector broke. I did not try to start the boat as I didn't have the keys with me. After I realized what I did and reconnected correctly, I found the switch is stuck on battery 1...so I definitely fried the switch and will replace this weekend. The power trim still worked. My question is, could I have fried something even though I did not try to start the engine? I store the boat on another property so I won't get back to it with a key and new switch until the weekend, but wondering what else could have been damaged from this. Any insight would be appreciated as I'm sick even thinking about this until I can get back with a key to see what else does or does not work. Thanks in Advance.
