"Finding it difficult to find information on the 270T leg. Is there a reverse retaining pawl on the 270T leg? It looks like it hooks over the trim pin on the 270 leg, but the 270T has no such pin. Is there a mechanism on the 270T to stop the leg kicking up in reverse, or does the hyraulic system forgo the kickup feature that protects the drive?

Found this forum brilliant for help on DIY maintenance. I've already used a number of old discussions for work so far. The boat has been laid up on its trailer for a couple of years after the hydraulic trim ram had its top broken. Getting the old end machined off and a cap machined up to repair.

What should I check/replace before firing the beast up? From the discussions I'd say the impeller. I've replaced the drive bellows, exhaust bellows are fine (but bought new one just in case). I'll replace the engine oil, the drive oil was done with drive bellows.

The engine was reconditioned a couple of hours use before the ram was damaged. Should push a very bare 17 footer through the water pretty well. Winters coming, so should be good to learn how to drive one of these things. We get more stable weather in autumn/winter, without the moderate 30kn breeze we get in summer.

Hope someone can give me some pointers.

Thanks in advance,

Brian"

"Brillaint. Thanks again El. A definite beginner here. Not used to these boats with anything other than 1 pair or more of arms. Guess I can stop running outside to try and find whats not there!

Checked the raw water hose and connection points when doing the bellows. I've seen a three way tap at a local boat shop that I thought would be good for the raw water system, plug in between the transome shield and raw water pump. Allow a hose to be attached for running on hard standing, back flush the leg, or connect leg intake to pump. Does this sound like a good idea?

Getting back on the boat project after the fix the towing vehicle project where I drowned my diesel. Replaced the Nissan TD42 for about 1/3rd the price of a rebuild. Given me a taste for this type of thing and giving me ideas for changing the boat engine in the future.

Brilliant forum.

Thanks again, Brian ;^)"
