reverse gear replacement

I am pretty sure my reverse gear is trashed, ratcheting and only grabbing hit and miss. Does anyone know if the clutch and gear can be replaced without a complete rebuild. Any ideas how much this should cost? The motor is old and I don't want to over spend.
