rev limiter 4500.

hi my boat has a 4.3 merc and is limiting at 4500, my dad has the same set up and yet his limits him to 4100, just wondering what i would have to do to bump up the limiter? thnx.
we would like to just get a little more out of his boat. thnx again.

I would check your dads prop diameter and pitch and check the props condition for wear or bent this could cause the difference at WOT most likely it's not hittting the rev limiter.

Scott, i think Bob hit the nail on the head, your talking about WOT wide open throttle with a load on, not a rev limiter. on the 4.3 a factory limiter was 5400 rpm if i remember right on that. others with more experiance will correct me if im wrong

No such thing as the exact same boat loaded exactly the same.

But i also agree it maybe the prop. His may have 2 degrees more pitch or more.

Or hidden water in the hull.

Or his may need a tune up.

I agree with above, check the prop, also are you both running the same kind, alum, stainless etc.

Btw,.... Chefalan, You of all people oughta know that props are measured in Inches, not degrees...
