Retrofitting 25hp Johnson with electric starter.

I have a 1969 25R69B 25hp Johnson with a pull starter. Is it possible to add an electric starter to it and if so, how would I do it. It came with a flywheel gear already on it so I figured that it was maybe an option but I don’t know.
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.
Thank you

Very common question of late.-----Look for parts off 22 cubic inch models.-----18 / 20 / 25 HP models.----Johnson or Evinrude.----1960 to 1976 will work.-----E-bay is one place to look.----Wiring , solenoid and switch are easy to find.

Brackets are spendy because some sellers know there is a demand for them !---They usually know what they have.----Patience will get you the parts for reasonable coins spent.

I recently saw a video on youtube of someone doing a retrofit on one of these but newer motor and it was involved due to needing a different flywheel/gear.Had to have machining done on flywheel. and heated gear in oven to press it on flyhweel.I have an 1985 pull start and it would be nice to have electric start.Hate to add more weight with another battery on my 14' lowe boat.

Well,---On the 22 cubic inch motors the ring gear bolts on !-----No machining / heating / pressing of any kind required.-----Totally different motors from 77 and newer !!

Thank you so much for your input. I will definitely try to do what you said I should! Is there a way to contribute to you for the information?

The problem is that even though I have the repair manual and the parts list there is no part number for the brackets because they weren’t made with electric starters. The strange thing is that they came with a flywheel that already has the gear teeth on them. You wouldn’t happen to know what part number I would need to look for would you?

Thank you for the reply but for some reason this motor came equipped with a flywheel that already has the gear teeth on it already. Strange thing is that the parts list and diagrams don’t show any brackets or part numbers for the brackets. Thank you so much for trying and if you possibly know the pat numbers for the brackets I would appreciate it if you could reply with them. Thank you again.

Sorry , but you are not looking in the right place for the bracket part #.-----Look for it right here on this site under ACCERORIES parts pages.----And if coins are not an issue it is in stock for a mere $ 312.00 and you can order it.

My problem with this is that I can’t find the part number for the bracket that would be necessary for adding the electric starter. Do you happen to know what that part number might be?

I just need to know the part number for the bracket that I need to pull this off. I thought that maybe someone on this forum might be able to help me with that.
