Retorque head with new gasket

In the manual(

In the manual(AQ170) it recommends to re-torque the head after warming the engine up following replacement of a new head gasket(Part # 3855409). I was told, with the new materials out today, this is not necessary. Should it be done, and do you ever re-torque a head after a certain interval, say 100 hours or so?
