Restricter Gaskets on Dry Joint System

Why does one side have the small hole?
I have a riser block so do I get 2 restricter gaskets?

This system is new to me.
I understand the pourpose for the improvements.
Are they supposed to last longer or are they just safer?
Thanks!

depends upon the rest of the cooling configuration - RWC or FWC and warm or cold riser.

The small hole is the restriction and goes towards the hose feeding the part with water.

Suppose to be 'safer' for the engine. details are in manual #37

From what I read, I think this is a cold riser. 4 hoses connected to the thermostat housing. Two of those feed the riser or elbow. Cant remember which at the moment.
Definately RWC

I ordered the shop manual on the phone last week. If the correct manual is #37, I hope that's the one they are shipping!

Thanks!

Have the shop manuals.
Now I understand.
I have warm manifolds / warm risers.
Nice that you can tell which gaskets are installed from looking at the outside.

I read that if you have a heater hose flowing to a hot water heater and it's blocked off that you can have overheating issues.
Weird..........
