Restricted RPM's

2003 225 starts, idles, and runs very smoothly to about 4800 RPM's (max has been 6100 rpm's) but throttle totally unresponsive beyond that. Boat sat in rack for several months and this first time being splashed since. Low pressure filter and separator changed. I suspect problem with high pressure filter which has not been changed. Also thinking about possibility of bad injector but engine does not miss a beat up to the 4800 rpm's and there are no alarms. Any thoughts?

The vtec is supposed to kick in around 4500 or so...maybe it is not functioning correctly.

You might just have some fuel that has lost its properties or you have a loose hose and the fuel system is sucking air.

HP filter could be an issue too...drain your VST into a glass jar and see what the fuel looks like. It may also indicate what the filter looks like if there is debris in it.
