I have a 1986 23'loa starc

I have a 1986 23'loa starcraft cuddy fiberglass with a newly rebuilt OMC cobra outdrive- i need to replace the engine. Any clues on what I could or should use that would match right up 8 cyl?

janoman - The link you sent looks good , but i dont think its a true marine block. Do you run yours in fresh or salt ?

"I run my Searay 240 in saltwater, Eastern shore of Viginia. The engine already comes with brass freeze plugs installed. There is no difference between marine and auto blocks. The good thing about these engines are that they are 4 bolt mains. You do have a 3 year warranity, but don't let them know that it was in a boat... What you do have to watch out for is never rebuilt a marine engine that was used in salt water."
