"just having a play round on the net to see if i can find out what i could re-power with that would match up with the least problems poss....

Has anyone any experience of re-powering this configration (AQ130/270)??? Im working on switching from Petrol/<u> (sorry boys, UK speak lol) to Diesel...

Volvo seem to reccomend the D3 / 130 SX but the cost outways the exercise.

The challange would be ...

Replacing my twin AQ130c with a reliable desiel equivilent... I got a displacement of about 3.5 tons (without engines) on a 25 foot (8 foot beam) looking for a speed of about 25 knots ish. I would look to keep the 170 legs in place if poss so need summit compatible. This is only exploring at the moment so please any input would be great. Ive already costed the rebuild of both AQ130c,s ( and doubled it ha !) i think all im realy looking at is modernising these 40 yr old engines with a more efficient and realiable method of propulsion. Would appreciate all your views .."

Savings on fuel differ from country to country and whether there are special tax considerations (see demonstrations in France) However, in any case, the large costs associated with new Diesel engines would be difficult to recoup in fuel savings and you seem to recognize that which begs the question, why ask? Volvo 4 cyl engines are compact and light in weight. The opposite could be true with Diesels."

With the price of fuel continuing to rise you might consider selling your 25' boat and twin VPs and go with a smaller newer boat with a single 4cyl. "petrol" motor OR trade for a good used boat with a single diesel motor already in it. Just another way to look at it..."

UK Fuel Prices:
Presently the UK fuel price stands at about £1.06 / Ltr (Desiel) thats about $2.15 US and unleaded at about £1.00 / Ltr $2.00 US. Fuel here continues to rocket and is expected to reach an all time high by mid 2008. Interestingly 66% of this cost is taxation.

Volvo,s reccomended engine replacements are the D3-130 Sx nice engineering but at a cost of £9.995 ($22,000.00) x 2 i doubt i would remain married for too long lol.

Ive been told that i could explore a autogas conversion reducing the fuel costs by up to about 50% but remain nervous about the dangers of carry gas, unleaded fuel and people all in one small area ?

Here in New Zealand I've s

Here in New Zealand I've seen that there are many who have Nissan LD28 engines hooked up to the Volvo 2xx legs. I have no idea of the conversion process. They are known as a pretty reliable engine. Also seen advertised Nissan TD42 and Mazda 3.5 Turbo truck engines used.
