"I am working on a old 115 HP

"I am working on a old 115 HP Mariner inline 6 outboard. (not sure what year, I think it is around late 70's early 80's)

The potting inside the switchboxes has "melted" away. When the boat was parked (about 15 yrs ago), the motor ran, so I am assuming the boxes should still be good. I was thinking of just repotting the old boxes.

Anyone heard of doing this?"

"Kevn, It seems strange to me

"Kevn, It seems strange to me that the potting would melt. Isn't it usually epoxy? Since the boxes are quite costly, it is probably worth trying."

"I dont know... Why would epox

"I dont know... Why would epoxy melt? I dont think the temps were that high, unless as it ages its melting point drops..."
