Replacing seacock without disturbing the thruhull skin fitting

Hi all,

Recently notice that my head seacock (Apollo ball value) was seized. Will replace it during the next haul out in a few months.

But wondering what's the correct way to remove it without disturbing the "mushroom head" thruhull skin fitting.

Some people say if the thruhull thread is long enough can use a stillson wrench to block the movement, but the thread would be destroyed ??.

Anybody experience this dilema before ? thks

Hi Chris,
Just back from overseas for my job. Thanks for your advice. Ok, if the thruhull fitting moves, I'll simply remove, clean and reinstall with life caulk sealant.
I think I need to quickly haul out my boat to replace the dogged seacock and repaint my outdrives as well. I have to revive my previous post concerning the outdrives painting.
Hopefully you can give me some hints on that issue too. thanks again.
