Replacing power pack on 100HP Johnson

Hi all, first time poster and was wondering if I could get some help as I am a novice mechanic.

Model number of outboard is 100ESL72R. I want to replace a pack that looks just like this:

http://www.marineparts.com/p-3414-power-pack.aspx

With this pack:

http://www.marineengine.com/newparts/part_details.php?pnum=CDI113-8362&ptype=&Engine=&Model=

I don't see a model number on the old pack so I'm assuming it is the sierra posted in first link.

Using my model number it looks like I can use the CDI model in the second link. I have already purchased it but haven't installed.

Couple of questions with this:

1) Could someone confirm I have the right power pack?

2) The wiring is the same but set up differently between the two packs. I like the quick connect on the old pack. Do you see any issues with me heat shrinking the old power pack quick connect on my new CDI pack?

Thanks for any help in advance!

This is for a older charging system and are subject to damage with high voltages the newer batteries will burn up the CD at higher rpms as the charging system is not regulated. The recommended fix is using a older style car battery also adding a high amp draw appliance when running will help protect the ignition system.
so what kind of battery. just a regular car battery at walmart?
