I am replacing a head gasket f

I am replacing a head gasket for a 85 hp force and the manual says to use RTV sealant. The RTV sealant says not for head gaskets. What should I do??

there is your cylinder head and then there is a cylinder head cover. head gasket to the block, then the cylinder head, then you can use rtv between the head and the head cover but not on the head gasket.

rtv should go between parts 73 and 83 on this drawing:

"If you are just replacing the head gasket, don't use any rtv at all, just torque the new gasket in to specs. If you allready seperated the head and the head cover then use rtv between those 2. Most likely, you did not seperate the cover from the head."
