Replacing front crank seal on a AQ131A

I need to replace the front se

I need to replace the front seal on this B230 engine. The engine is on a engine hoist. have the pulley off but I am unable to get the timing gear off the crankshaft. Unable to use any of the pullers that I have as there is no room between the gear and the front cover. Do I need a special tool or something. Help Bob

"Hi Bob, I think I got what you need. I scanned 2 pages from a repair manual and e-mailed them to you. It appears that you need some special puller and seal remover/installation tool, the Volvo part #'s are included in the pics. Hope it helps."

"I don't recall ever using any special tools to remove the sprocket or to install the seal. Just a regular bearing puller to remove the sprocket, then a screwdriver to remove the seal and a plastic mallet and a socket wrench to install the seal and the sprocket. But hey, it was some time ago when I did the last one."
 
Don't need any special too

Don't need any special tools to do the job. It sounds like th timing belt drive gear is seized onto the crankshaft which will involve a little work to remove. You will need to replace the oil pan gasket as well. At least I did because I damaged when I removed the seal and cover.
