I'm trying to find out why

I'm trying to find out why the 1982 75 hp evinrude out board has no spark. One of the test for Sensor Coil Resistance is showing that the sensor coil needs to be replaced. The resistance is not within the range called for. My problem is that the manual or the parts catalog does not tell me what the sensor coil is. I'm guessing its either the stator assembly or the timer base assembly. Its too expensive to guess. Can you help me out?

The sensor coil(s) are

The sensor coil(s) are part of the timer base assy. You have to remove the flywheel and stator to get to it. Pretty easy to do. You will need a puller for removing the flywheel.

The OCM parts catalog doesn&#3

The OCM parts catalog doesn"t show or list sensor coils. I can pull the flywheel and stator but I still have the problem of ordering the sensor coil(s). Any suggestions there. Thanks for responding so quickly.

On my 140 johnson the timer base assy. includes the sensor coils(all in one unit). Not sure about your motor. If the OMC catalog lists the timer base assy. that should be all you need.

Hey I have a 83 75 hp have you

Hey I have a 83 75 hp have you ever had any problems with your carbs. and if so what kind of problems trying to see if I just bad luck or is it a problem with these types of motors.

"The motor has 3 sensor coils,

"The motor has 3 sensor coils, one for each cylinder. If you have no spark at all, it likely is not the fault of one sensor coil. Check the charge coils next. It is likely the CD box or a fault in ignition switch or wiring.Does the motor turn over a a good speed---if too slow you also have no spark.Disconnect the big red plug and turn it over too see if there is spark."
