replaced impeller 1970 merc cannot get it gear.

When i dropped to lower unit i did not have it forward gear . How do i fix it how. I should asked for help first. any help.

There is a tag with 1.84R on the back. Maybe that is the rotation of the lower gear.

Did you split the gearcase on the boat and leave the upper half attached or did you remove the entire outdrive and split it?

OK it work. Water flow is great. But now i put in forward or reverse and the engine quits instantly.
