Replace or Repair Outboard

Hey all, I'm just checking in on some opinions on my 2006 25HP Mercury EFI. The motor runs well. Starts pretty quick and has never died on me. However the prop shaft is bent and it needs a good servicing throughout. The lower unit is still holding water and shows no signs of water intrusion. (See my other thread from a few months back) I have been floating around the idea of tackling the repairs myself but time just isn't allowing it. Plus I don't have the tools required right now. I'm probably looking at around $1300 in the shop to get everything flawless and in perfect order.

I'm trying to figure out if I should commit to the repairs or just buy a new 2018 engine and sell the mercury off as it works fine. I would like something lighter, electric start and 20hp EFI. The repairs will come out to half the cost of a new engine itself.

What are some indicators that I should be looking at to make this decision easier?

Thanks for the input.

If you do the repairs yourself you can get a better price for resale. Maybe put it on craiglist for a possible trade with someone looking for more ponies. I don't believe there is any special shimming that needs to be done just swap the shaft, reseal and put in a new impeller and replace the prop if necessary.
