I have a 35hp Mercury engine with electric that has multiple issues. As a quick lead in, this motor has set up for over 6 years. I sea foamed the cylinders before turning over by hand at the prop. The motor is not seized and seems to have good compression and will crank over but no start. It has NO SPARK. In addition, the key switch is hanging out to the side of the remote control. I have tried to disconnect the kill wire from the switch box, still no spark. I have removed and ohm tested the rectifier (good), coils (good), charging coil under flywheel (good), stator (two coil) which is probably bad. I have ordered another one. the trigger plate by the book should read between 850-1400 ohms? Mine reads 750 ohms. Should I replace it? My $$'s are tight. I haven't found a way to check the switchbox yet. My big question though is about the key switch. I don't want to take a chance and blow a new stator. Is there a way to disconnect the remote control and then be able to crank and start the motor with a remote starter? Do I have to remove or add wiring on the motor side? Any help will be welcome !
