Working on a Alpha 1 Gen 1, any tips on removing the prop shaft retainer nut, I did get the proper tool but it will not budge.

Are you talking about the very large diameter ring like nut that holds the carrier in place?

You should have the correct factory manual so you have the proceddure and torque specs. Manual # 6

Left hand and read prior post abiut drilling it out, if you look closely there are small round flat spots just for this purpose.

Dont use any heat!!

This is a common issue so drilling and carefully prying the pieces out will keep the threads intact otherwise you will need a new lower case.

I do have the # 6 manual, it says drill or heat, I guess drilling is the safer way to go, will order a new nut tonight . Although the manual doesn't give a drill size, just to drill holes, think I'll start small and move up easy like.
Thanks all !!!!

My error, manual does not say heat.

This is the best decision.

I believe the torque spec on the nut is like 200lbft.
So after its been in there a while is almost impossible to get out with the tool.

I have a half dozen spares just for this reason!!

I may just consider that, maybe one extra.

Reading down the Manual it does say to use heat to get the carrier out, carefully use the heat.
Seloc manual says to turn nut Counter-clockwise to remove, that would be a right hand thread, correct?
Or is the manual not correct?

clockwise to tighten
Counter clockwise to loosen

Standard thread

All screws, nuts, everything on an Alpha drive is standard thread as is on the engine. So no need to ever ask that question again
