Removing lower unit Johnson 25hp 1981, it's not coming off

IMG_2264.JPGFirst-timer removing a lower unit, on a 1981 Johnson 25hp two-stroke.

Model J25RCIM

Lower unit bolts are undone, lower unit drops about five inches, and I've loosened the shift rod connector screw (see photo). The LU still not coming off, and before I put any real force into it, want to make sure I'm not missing another connector somewhere. Do I need to fully remove the screw? Or does it just take some pressure to unlink the shift rod lower part from upper?

I've looked through the older posts on this topic and still not sure if my particular model is different.

Any guidance greatly appreciated. I'm preparing to replace lower unit seals, again, for the first time, so there will likely be MORE questions:)

Thanks --

That did it. Thanks, racerone.

Pinion gear and its bearing fell out when I pulled the lower unit off, it's not held on by anything but pressure against the other gears, I presume? And the bearing goes in either way, it appears...
