I'm trying to rebuild the carb but can't get to a nut holding it on. Is there a trick? There's 1nut behind the starter but I can't seem to be able to get the starter off either. I'm looking at schematics too and seem to have all the nuts. Help?

there is a nut holding the starter right side the carb up 3/4 the way up on the starter. then theres a bolt below the solenoid that srews in from the back toward the front . just follow the starter bracket down you should see it. i remove my solenoid first. then there is another bolt above the solenoid. then you have to remove the two bolts holding a little strap on the throttle rod to the right of the solenoid. thats it.

Discovered the problem. After having the carb rebuilt and installed, discovered a pretty good-size fuel leak coming from a small hose below the fuel pump. Upon further inspection discovered the leak to be coming from a small crack on the bottom of the fuel pump. Replaced with a new $120 fuel pump and no more leak, and she's running like a champ again.
