Removed Repaired amp Replaced Stator

"Alrightythen, removed stator

"Alrightythen, removed stator & repaired charge coil wires. I did check resistance from blue, red, blue/white, & red/white to ground (stator mounting ring, had stator laying on table) and I did get resistance readings. Ain't I supposed to get readings from those wires to ground? I don't remember getting a reading to ground from the two yellow charge coil wires, I don't think I'm supposed to on them two. Anyhow, today I put that sucker back on and did a DVA test on the trigger wires with the cranking motor. Spark plugs were in, plug wires were on my spark tester, & battery had a good charge. Chart said all 3 trigger tests were supposed to be 4v or more. Mine were about 3.6v on each test. Is that ok or does it need to be more? When I first did a spark test on this engine, I had the spark gap set at 1/4" and the spark looked kinda red or orange (color blind) Is the spark supposed to be hot blue? Is 1/4" gap ok? Thanks in advance for any help."

"3.6 is ok.
Should be bright

"3.6 is ok.
Should be bright blue. Should send you to the ER if you get zapped by it.

The idle stabilzer is unpluged right?"

At 1/4" gap spark is redis

At 1/4" gap spark is redish orange I think. That is at cranking speed. I did not unhook Idle Stablizer (if it has one) This is a 1980 90 HP inline. and I did buy the piercing probes with the DVA adaptor. Didn't want to get zapped.

"I looked up the idle stablize

"I looked up the idle stablizer in my Seloc Manual, and it appears that my engine was not equipped with one. Atleast where the wires hook to the switchboxes in the diagram, mine does not have them. and I didnt see anything that looked like a Idle Stablizer. Also, I dont think it has a mercury switch (I'm assuming the mercury switch kills the engine when it is tilted up). I did disconnect the white/black wire (bias circuit wire?) and checked to see if #5 would fire. It did not, so I installed a new switchbox. #5 now fires. I did see that all 6 wires had a good blue spark. While I had the plugs out I went ahead and bathed the cylinders with fogger spray. Guess now I need to reinstall the gas tank and see if she will run."
