A question fro Bob D.

You say you unscrewed the hose from the fitting before installation. From the diagram you posted, this looks like the two are meant to be separated with ease?? Like you, I'll be operating in a tight space so it must come apart and go back together with ease. I guess 'loc-tite' would work to keep 'em together.

Anyone know of a Canadian outlet for this or a similar drain system? The vendor mentioned in the prior post requires a $10 surcharge for shipping to

"Tom,

Yes, the tube is mean

"Tom,

Yes, the tube is meant to separated from the fitting easily. Take a look at the large pic below...the arrow is pointing to the area where you can see the threads on the end of the tube which screw into the corresponding female potion of the fitting.

Again, the way I installed mine was:

1) Disassembled the tube from the large fitting.

2) Installed large fitting into the oil pan drain hole. As I recall, I tightened it almost all the way so that it was in a postition where it would be easiest to install the tube into the fitting.

3) Installed the tube into the fitting. This is the hardest part because you have the tube to deal with...as you tighten it into the fitting, the tube also has to turn, which can be a pain unless the tube is kept straight out from the fitting (not kinked or coiled).

4) Once I got the tube tightly screwed into the fitting, I tightened the fitting completely into the oil pan. I also tried to position it so that the tube was facing back towards the transom drain plug hole, which is where I snake it out when I want to change the oil.

5) I then just zip tied the loose end of the tube up onto something attached to the engine, being sure to keep the tube away from things that get hot.

I believe I also used some kind of non-hardening thread sealer (Blue Permatex?) on all the threads to make sure I did not get any leaks.

Let me know if you have any more questions!
