I have a 1985 30hp outboard Johnson (M/N J30ECOA). Recently a small plastic lockout lever in the remote control box broke. Using the engine M/N I found the replacement part online (# 0325781). However, the new part was not identical to the broken one and upon closer inspection it appears that my remote control box is actually different than the one indicated by Johnson as being for my engine. I bought the boat used so I obviously suspect that the control box was switched out with another at some point. The problem is that I cannot find the actual box I have anywhere online and I'm not sure whether another "random" one can be used in its place in the event that I want to buy a used one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!
