Remanufactured Long Block

Hello

I have lost a MerCruiser 5.0 MPI engine due to a freezing event. The crack is both on the external and inside of the engine so it is pretty much toast. Two questions.

Can you tell me a good place to buy a remanufactured long block

The other question is a have reached out to a couple and they indicate that a 305 Chevy is hard to come by. They have 350 blocks but I am not sure how that links up to a Alpha 1 Gen 2 Stern Drive. Any thoughts on that.

GM stopped making the 5.0 a few years back making it somewhat harder to find. A 5.7 is a common upgrade but with an mpi you will need to reflash the ecu for the 5.7 fuel mapping. Michigan motorz can help you either with rebuilt 5.0 or walk you through upgrading to a 5.7.

You will have zero issue with the alpha gen 2 if you go with a 5.7, just may have to go up in prop pitch due to the higher hp engine.
