Reinstalling lower unit after water pump change

"i just replaced a water pump

"i just replaced a water pump on 2000 150 hp outboard, the drive shaft is very hard to turn by hand, is this correct because all the parts are new (impeller and housing cup) is so what would be the best way to line up the drive shaft splines at reassembly. any thoughts would be helpful

If the prop is on the leg and

If the prop is on the leg and the shift shaft is in gear you can turn the driveshaft easily. Just make sure you have both the leg and remote control in the same gear when you assemble. (both in forward or reverse)
