Reed Valve II-with added info

Sorry, I did not tell you what kind of motor.
I have a 50HP mariner(older- maybe an 89?) and I wanted to know how to inspect/replace reed valve?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

:)Ok. If it's '89 the reed block is on the crank shaft and the case needs to be split to look close at them. They can be viewed by pulling the carb and looking in. Idle curiosity, what's the problem? And if you post the number,it can be checked to give an accurate year.

Ok before going to split any case, clean the carbs thoroughly, soak all the metal bits in carb cleaner and blow out all those wee passages with air.If you would like to try a can of power tune through first it may help. And have a look at your tank and fuel lines, there may be some dirt floating about

Since the last time we communicated I have drained the gas tank, inspected the screen, cleaned tank and replaced with fresh gas, replaced the fuel lines and the primer bulb. Both carbs have been cleaned and fuel pump kit installed on both. And put in new plugs. And the problem still is the same, nothing has changed. I am thinking this is an ignition problem....Any suggestions?????

Possible trigger or high speed windings on the stator on the way out. Test trigger, you should get,on OHM scale R X 100 7-10 between brown and white/black stripe and the same between white and violet.
On the stator between red and red/white stripe you should get 56-76 on OHM scale R X 1,high speed as far as I can remember, between the blue and blue/white 5.7-8 on OHM scale R X 1000. Resistance is higher as the copper heats, so if within 15% or there abouts I wouldn't worry too much.
The wires have to be disconnected from the switch box to test.
