Rectifier Problem (Four Wire)

Has anybody seen this type of connection, it joins the rectifier to the loom?

If so, can you please tell me the rectifier s/n that has a bullet red wire and three ring connecting yellow wires? I've searched high and low and I can't find a rectifier with such attributes.

1994 E50RNLIC.

The rectifier that's on her at the moment is 511938. I did a search on BRP and this site and it showed there was no such part.

Then I did a search on the net and one site said it was a new rectifier which had replaced 581778. But all these rectifiers show four wire ring connectors, my one has 3 ring connectors on the yellow wires and a bullet on the red wire.

Can anybody help me?

I know that the model number you provided is good. However, that model number will not show up anywhere, even on Bombardier's site. The model number of E50RNLIA and E50RNLIB show up on various sites but not E50RNLIC... weird!

The rectifier you have is obvious (to me anyway) that it is a converted 581778 rectifier, given a new part number simply because of the RED wire being changed from a ring terminal to a bullet terminal. The slightest change results in a new part number... shorten one wire and it'll have a new part number.

My advice to you is to use the 581778 rectifier and convert the red wire to a bullet terminal.

Thank you kindly, that's just what I'll do.

While we're on the subject of rectifiers, does the number of yellow wires from the stator to the rectifier tell one the number of poles on the stator.

I read somewhere that a 3 wire rectifier, two yellow and one red, showed that the stator had 12 poles. Does the 4 wire rectifier show that the stator has 10 poles?

I know this is a slight deviation from the original subject, but just out of interest and since I've got your attention....

Thanks a lot.

No, the wires you mention have no bearing on identifying the pole numbers, at least that is not to my knowledge.

Your engine should be a 12 pole stator that emits 6 pulses.... a tachometer (dial on the back) would be set to number 6.

Thanks a lot for the info.

I just wondered why some engines had 3 wire rectifiers and others had 4 wires, what was the significance.
