Ive been having problems with getting my engine running right ive checked the compression 125 psi both cylinders, replaced all the components new wires, coils, plugs, fuel filter, water pump impeller, power pack, solinoid. Got the engine running in my driveway on ears. Took it to the water and it has no power and sounds like its running on one cylinder, thats happened twice. I took a break from working it for a few days and figured id replace the terminal strip. While doing that i noticed the red wire coming from the rectifier " where it connects to the terminal strip" was hanging on by a thread and easially snapped off. I tried to put a new connection on it but the wire just kept pulling apart I didnt even have to cut it, it was so delapatated it fell apart. I got a new one and reinstalled it but its to late to start. Could this be the problem with my engine running inconsistantly...? Does the rectifier convert DC volts to AC...? Could my engine just have not been getting the right voltage through the rectifier but enough to run it with no power am i thinking about what a rectifier does the wrong way...?

The stator under the flywheel is a two fold component. It is the beginning of both the battery charging system and also the ignition system.

The stator emits AC voltage to the rectifier. The rectifier converts the AC voltage to DC voltage which is needed to charge the battery. The rectifier pertains to the battery charging system only and has nothing to do with the ignition system.
