ok apparently im a goober.eith

ok apparently im a goober.either i touched the wires to the wrong pole accidentally or my car battery was the culprit.

i went fishing this morning and got rained out (ike) and noticed that my fish finder wasnt showing the normal charge.

i switched my batterys around in order to get the troller battery out of the rear and to the front and apparently i touched the wrong battery wires together at some point while hooking up my car battery.

i did joe reeves test on rectifiers and found it was bad...not to mention that after i did the third test one of the yelow wires came out of the back.

my old rectifier has goo coming out and the plug inside is turned half sideways but i tested it anyways and it passed other than the red wire #s are higher than the yellow wires.

is there any chance of stator damage already?

will it just poop out or is there a test to check for weakness?

i also read about (cant remember where)wiring in a regulator from a newer motor.

would this replace my old set up or will i also need the rec for my model?

does anyone have the part # for this newer reg/rec?

is there a chance that my car battery caused this?
its only a month old.

sorry for the book

thanks for the help.

The RED wire reading has alway

The RED wire reading has always been lower than the yellow wire readings..... Possibly that was a typo?

Reectifier part number is 583408.

Reverse polarity will destroy the rectifier diodes.

it wasnt a typo what i should

it wasnt a typo what i should have said was that it passed all the tests except for lower #s on the red wire.

i think im going to go with a water cooled reg/rec #193-4204 and do a little wiring and an upgraded charging system reccomended by ezeke.

it costs a little more but i will feel better with a regulator than just a rectifier.

thanks for the help joe!

p.s. and thanks for all the tests and procedures that i now have on my favs.
