Rctifier/regulator 1995 johnson 115 hp

We have established this part needs replacing,new rectifier/regulators have been modified.The new parts come without the purple wire which on the last model kicked the engine over. Can any one tell me where to connect the purple wire remaining on the engine,to get the engine to kick over.

Which purple wire?
They have 2 plugs, one from stator and one to harness(tach) and one red going to starter solenoid B+.
Some pics might help??
 
Have fixed the problem, the purple wire has been superceded and the modifiaction made within the unit.The wire was only an accessory wire.The no start was a loose wire.Thks for your interest, cheers
