"I know there is a thread running at the moment about raw water strainer but don't want to intrude on it.
My question is this : running a pair of 130c's on 270 legs.
The water strainers(aluminiun caps secured by brass knurled nuts)
I have removed the brass nuts and cannot see how to remove the caps.I don,t want to force the caps.
Any ideas??

"Hi thostorey,
I cannot access the url as I am in UK.
But the part is in the Seloc Manual, page7-5 cooling/ heat exchanger.
The part is in top left hand corner.
It shows the exact part i am on about.
The 2 brass knurled nuts come off ok but the coverplate to be removed is solid.
It says 'pop the cover off by hand and clean the strainer screen' It is this part that I cannot shift.

Lez"

"I'm not familiar with that engine and cooling system but I think it safe to say that the cap is corroded and seized. No doubt it will be an expensive item to replace if you break it. I'd be tempted to take the strainer unit off the system and attempt to free the cap, carefully. I'm sure others will chime in with the best methods of getting it off."

"Hi Thostorey,
Thanks, that is the way my thinking was going.
Moreton, have used the link , but does not cover the 130c.

"Take strainer totally off. I've had some luck with soaking things in white vinegar. Some carefully applied heat with a propane torch usually helps. If a new cap is pricy, well... nowhere is it written that your engine NEEDS that particular strainer. See alternative $40 strainer in the other thread :)... Extra holes probably not necessary. I'd use bronze fittings not plastic ones if I did it myself."
