"I am having trouble locating

"I am having trouble locating a raw water pump for an OMC 230HP (1979 305).

The sierra listing that I found doesn't look anything like the unit that I have. My pump has both connections exiting out the back rather than the side.

Does any body have any suggestions?

Thanks,"

"you are talking about the eng

"you are talking about the engine mounted circulating pump, or the drive water pump located in the drive?"

"Facing the front of the engin

"Facing the front of the engine, lower left side. It is about 4 inches in diameter. 2 water hoses (1 1/4" size exit strait out the back. Driven by a V-belt. This is not the circulating pump."

"Yes, Very similar to this one

"Yes, Very similar to this one. I will get a photo when I get home. One of the lines goes to the heat exchanger for the transmission then out of there to the circulating pump for the engine. Both lines go underneath the engine so It's hard to see where the other one is going but I will try to track it down. It is the same OMC blue/green color as the engine, so I really believe that it is OMC factory but maybe not."

"Chiefalen,

Yes it is a 197

"Chiefalen,

Yes it is a 1979 Penn Yan. Strait inboard.
Here is a photo of the Raw water pump.

"So the motor was changed out

"So the motor was changed out from whatever the original was, cause for sure it was not a omc.

Don't mean nothing merc or whatever if it's a chevy motor the basic one would be the same. just different tins.

The pump Bob posted posted would work but the bracket needs work.

Seen the exact same one on e-bay.

I don't even know if you can get a exact replacement of the one you got on it?

See it's so old maybe if you had to, you could get it rebuilt.

The one you have isn't pumping?"

"Looks like I will be rebuildi

"Looks like I will be rebuilding this one. It pumps, but it leaks from the shaft. Not bad, but just enough to be annoying. I'm kinda anal about stuff like that. Don't have the means for modifying the bracket, so If I can't find one like it it will have to be rebuilt.

I am pretty sure that an OMC is what came in this boat originally, at least according to the Penn Yan website."
