Here's the number from the passenger side on the front of the block beside the head. I've looked up how to read these numbers and they say that there's either 7 or 8 numbers on a small block Chevy. I see 9, or the #/letter before the M is something else??? Maybe someone here can make heads or tails of when this motor was made. From what I gather, the M means it was cast/made in Mexico. I'm also guessing that this info should be in another category here.

Locating MerCruiser Serial Number Tags ​
Engine Serial Number: The serial number tag is located near the starter, by the flywheel housing; or, on the rocker arm or flame arrestor cover.

Transom plates: The serial number tag is located on the inner transon plate inside the boat; or, on the upper swivel pin.

Sterndrive Serial Number (separate from engine): The serial number tag is located on the upper drive shaft housing (starboard side or on the back of the housing).

The number you posted is not going to be the mercruiser serial number needed.

I believe sharkin95 is saying depending on what year engine you it will be either or.
 
correct boat tech....most of them are 12-14 psi. 1998-2001 350 engines are rated at 16psi. I had a 3.7 224 cu in mercruiser the resevoier took a 12 psi cap,what year engine do you have...?

This was a crate engine replacing the original about 8 years ago with the 10036033 on this list. So I should be going with 12-14. They say the 10036033 replaces the pre 1985 350 motors.
