Quickstop - Emergency stop doesn't work

Hi,
I need help. I have a Johnson Outboard Motor following details:
2002 > 50 hp > Johnson J50PLSNF

The engine starts but does not turn off, when the emergency stop clip is pulled off.
I changed the starter, the CDI-Box but it still does not work. Could this be a problem with the electrical system, a cabel defect or a relais that doesn't work?
I don't have a plan for the boat electricity. Could anybody help me....

bye, Sabine:confused:

hi, thanks for answering, the problem is the engine won't even stop when I turn off the key. It only stops when I pull the fuel line :(... same way to fix as mentioned above?
bye
Sabine

you probably have an inline disconnect under the cowl...green and yellow or black and yellow wire...make sure it is connected..if it is not thats your problem..if it is connected then when the unplug it and ground the lead going to the power pack...that kill the motor...if it dont then its probably the power pack..if it does kill it then you have an open wire going to the ignition switch or a switch problem...with the key off the two ''m'' terminals should be shorted to pick up the ground..

i would run the boat a time or two and then swap out the power pack with the one you took out..if it works then leave it in and you will have a known good spare...
