Quicksilver OEM Mercruiser flushing kit ?

Any feedback about the permanent Mercruiser flushing kit?, it is just a hose and fittings for $250+install (pic with black hose)

Another alternative I found is the "superflush" (pic with blue hose), runs with engine off, connections on both sides of the thermostat. Has check valves so water only runs in one direction (citi water to cooling system).

In my opinion,
Stay away from flushing kits.
All those connections lead to potential air/water leaks during boating season.

If you have a standard Mercruiser configuration and have two block drains, two manifold drains and a need a little help/description on what and how to do it correctly then ask.

Trying to short cut the labor and time may lead to failure.

For me I do it manually and have been for many many years. No failures.

I have removed quick systems due to issues after install over time..

Many of the newer configurations use blue plastic winged screws to remove and that made it even easier.

What year is yours?

WHy do you want a "quick kit"?

The Merc/Quicksilver kit is actually a great kit. It is designed to work with engine mounted sea water pumps. There is a valve you hook to your hose and a quick connect on the engine. Makes for a dry time for you flushing your engine.

If you have a quick connect coupled feed hose the wye will just plug in. The kit comes with both, barbed wye and a quick connect wye.

Any other kit will void your warranty.

What you will find with the other kits that connect to the engine block drains and the manifold hoses is that you cannot drain anything with the flushing hoses attached. Plus the unit will clog with sand and sediment The Merc one goes inline with your water inlet hose to flush

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm specially afraid of voiding the Mercury warranty, as I'm installing a new long block (Merc remanufact). Will go with the Merc flushing kit, my mechanic has also recommended it, and he knows how to install it.

Good choice, they work perfectly. Don't lose the end that hooks to your hose...$$$ and keep it clean.

where can I get those blue winged drain pluqs

On a system with a heat exchanger or raw water operation in"sweet water", get a brass plug from your local hardware store.

I found, much to my chagrin when my foot slipped on the deck, that they break off easily and dump the block contents into the bilge.
