Questions about my '84 xp 150 vro

I just recently purchased a 1984 xp 150 from and have a few questions.

Do you have to put oil in these engines?? I was told when I bought the boat to put straight gas in the fuel tank but want to know if I need to put oil in the engine. I've looked and can't find a reservoir to put oil in.

Secondly, when I took it out on its first run it seems like it's having a hard time getting on plane. It's on a 16 foot boat so it shouldn't be struggling with the weight of the boat, I messed with the trim while trying to get on plane and it seems as if the prop might be slipping.... does this sound right????

Any insight would be awesome!!! Thanks , BG

If you don't have an oil tank for the VRO then you must mix 2 stroke outboard oil with your gas at 50:1 ratio. If he engine is reving high and no go then the prop may be slipping mark the prop an the shaft then run the boat and see if the marks have moved if so then get prop re-hubbed.

Where would the oil tank be looking located?

The oil tank would be in the boat somewhere with a hose running from it to the motor. Run 50:1 premix in your fuel tank until you get it all figured out.
