"Jeff..... I retired before the "Fichts" or "Fitchs" (however it's spelled) came into being so I can't comment on them, nor can I give any advice that may pertain to problems they may have encountered. However, form what I've read about them that has been entered by actual owners of that type engine.... well, let me just quote what someone said to me many years ago which is "Sophistication breeds problems", and you can take it from there.

As for the water temperture gauge, that should be available from any marine dealership, or any marine type store. I'm puzzled as to why you haven't been able to locate one. OMC's part number for a Water Temperture Gauge is #175050 and the last price I have on it (1999) is $51.00.
