"Hello all, I have a question.
"Hello all, I have a question. I just bought a used Evinrude 9.5 made in 1967. I got it running today but, it is getting very hot. I have not had a small engine like this before so, I am a bit stumped. At the back of the engine is a black rubber grommet that goes through the cover and attaches to the block. This piece is like a flexable ribbed rubber and approx 1" inner diam. I am NOT getting any water through this only hot exhaust. Should I be betting water through that on this motor?? I do see water falling from the top side of the lower unit. Is it poss that my therm is not working? would I be getting that water from the lower unit if the pump and impeller were good but the therm is bad/stuck???
Thanks in advance.
