Question on motor ID

If the model and SN on tag is illegible, is it safe to say the model # and SN on welsh plug is sufficient? I've been creating an inventory sheet on my motors etc, and the ID tag on my 15hp Johnson is more of a decal instead if stamped tag. The decal is unreadable now.
The welsh plug has J15RCDE E6169217
Those are the only #"s I can find anywhere on motor other then casting #'s.

Are those good #'s to use as ID's
