Question on 4hp Evinrude

My friend dropped his motor off 4906B E06097 to store in my heated garage for the winter. He had not done any winterizing on it so I told him I would for him.
He said it was a good running little motor so I just did the basic stuff on it, plugs, storage seal in cyl, LU grease.
When I pulled the prop to see if any fishing line was in there I got quite a surprise. To me anyway, I've never seen this arrangement before with any of my motors. You have the prop nut, washer, prop, rubber whatever, plastic spacer and a prop hub this all goes on to.
I've not been able to pull the prop hub out of the lower unit by hand, and am wondering if it's not meant to come out. Also the prop is slightly wobbly when installed on the toothed rubber spacer and nut is snugged up. Is that normal for this type of arraignment?

That is a shock hub assembly. The rubber ring absorbs knocks and bangs when you hit obstructions. If you really, really clobber something hard, the rubber is supposed to jump a notch on the hub. Ahead of all that is a stainless steel drive pin that is not supposed to shear, but never say never. Actually, the design has been around since the 1940's. And wobble is normal.

Anyway, the hub is supposed to simply pull off the shaft. It obviously is corroded on.

Thanks for the information.
The "hub" will move about 1/8" more or less back & forth on shaft but won't allow me to pull it off. Right about now I'm wondering if I even need to and just let it be.

Hm.m.m, that's odd. If it is corroded on, it wouldn't move on the shaft at all. Since it moves, it ought to pull off. I have no answer for that. You are sure it isn't the whole shaft moving, right?

Good question, I don't think so but I'll check it out again tomorrow

OK, I just checked to see if it was the hub moving or the shaft. It is indeed the hub, it is loose on the shaft, but is hanging up on something..... a burr somewhere?
At this point I think I'll just leave it alone. If it we're my motor I'd pursue it further. But it's not, and I don't want to screw up something that was not a known problem when it came here other then not wanting to come off now. Owner bought it used, and never used it much, and never had a reason to take the prop off.. That part of the shaft just won't get any grease.
